SpoYo Spokane Youth Book Festival

The long-running Get Lit! literature festival is introducing its kid sibling, the Spokane Youth Book Festival, aka SpoYo, to the local reading community’s youngest bookworms this Saturday. The inaugural event showcases a diverse mix of youth lit authors, including many of Spokane’s notable literary names like Kelly Milner Halls and Claire Rudolf Murphy. Guests authors are coming to Spokane from all over, including Nick Bruel, creator of the popular Bad Kitty series, and Kazu Kibuishi, the author of the Amulet graphic novels. Free workshops and readings are held throughout the event, geared toward kids ages 3 to 12. The day concludes with a presentation ($5 suggested donation for adults) at the Bing Crosby Theater by S.E. Grove, author of the middle-grade bestseller The Glass Sentence.
