Dr. Javier Ochoa-Reparaz, PhD Associate Professor of Biology at EWU, presents "Bugs, gut, and brain: an intricate relationship." Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a devastating disease of the brain and spinal cord. Neurons of MS patients are attacked by immune cells resulting in variable symptoms and disease progression patterns. One key modulator of the immune system is the gut microbiome. In this session, learn more about the complex interactions between gut microbes, immune cells and the brain in the context of MS.
