Re: “Paper Cuts

What cracks me up is that people have the nerve to complain about a few environmentally friendly phone books that are dropped off at their door step; yet these people don’t even realize that the newspapers, magazines and mail that they read comprise a far more greater majority of paper waste than phone books ever will. What Jim Hail stated in the article is absolutely true; the industry is being attacked (and bullied) by the other paper industries.

The phone book industry has already taken every measure to make sure it’s products are environmentally friendly, and 100% recyclable. What angers me is that many people still refuse to acknowledge this fact; they must feel better about themselves by criticizing rather than praising. I also do not believe that any American (including myself) should be complaining about this industry, when statistics have shown that Americans are amongst the most wasteful people on this planet.

How much gas do we waste every day by driving 80 MPH to and from work? How much food do we waste? The list goes on. Phone books are a VERY insignificant fraction of the big picture, and complaining about the phone book industry is like whining about the curtains on the Titanic, we have more important matters to worry about.
