For any R&B purist, seeing the Isley Brothers in concert is a can’t-miss proposition. The Isleys broke out with the single “Shout,” which has been inspiring crowds to “get a little bit louder now” since 1958, but their stars really rose in the 1970s, with songs like “It’s Your Thing” and “That Lady” instantly cementing them in the soul music pantheon. They’ve played through various incarnations since their inception, and singer Ronald and guitarist Ernie are the remaining two Isleys — Ronald has been with the group from the start, while Ernie joined in the ’70s. They still put on a killer show with a stellar backing band.
