This exhibit shows what Nancy Rothwell has chosen to paint as she reviews the influence of the 19th Amendment which granted women the right to vote. Through her paintings, Nancy Rothwell, a Colfax artist, “paints what she thinks about”. And she has been thinking a lot about what courage it took for women to stand up for their beliefs — that all women should be given the right to vote. It took years of agitation and protest to pass this legislation in 1920. In this exhibit, Nancy uses visual symbols such as roadmaps and house keys to comment. On display through Jan. 29, open Mon-Sat 10 am-5 pm.
