Re: “We Have Not Yet Begun to Fight

Paul, great article. The only criticism I have is that your article inspires people but then does not share information about how to get involved locally.

Re: “We Have Not Yet Begun to Fight

Cheech white washes all protesters as whiners and as not basing their protests on thoughtful ideas, which is a facile and uninformed tactic often used to dismiss and subdue views that are opposed to ones own. Rather than discussing the actual issues and reasons people may have for protesting, he takes the easy way out by lumping all protesters into the"whiny baby" category. I agree that protest matches on their own are not enough, but protest is a crucial part of the democratic process. Painting all protesters as attention seeking simpletons, or sore losers, is an attempt to delegitimize valid reasons for protest against what is happening now in Washington. When trump is intent upon alienating our allies, building walls between countries, undermining environmental protections, revoking regulations on banks in which he as direct monetary interest (regulations that were put in place after the crash for good reason), unconstitutionally targeting Muslims, it is a patriotic duty for people to protest. Don't let yourself be silenced by facile rhetoric like Cheech's. Get out and make noise, March, protest. These are some of the most important tools the people have to uphold democracy, then get involved in local groups that are fighting these issues in other ways, contact your representatives.
