Re: “Marked Off

Regarding Randy Ramos, is he even eligible for the ballot? I'm pretty sure the law requires a candidate to be a register voter for one year prior to the election. So if he registered AFTER august of last year, he wouldn't be eligible to be on this August's primary ballot. Which is a shame, because Fagan is an idiot and deserves to lose.

Re: “Why Sen. Andy Billig voted against freezing the $2 billion class-size initiative

What kind of fantasy world is Andy Billig living in? He calls it a "manufactured" crisis? I would say getting a budget passed 20 minutes before the state shut down operations is a rather legitimate crisis.
How did he not know this was coming? Somehow the House democrats knew and voted in favor. Why were these discussions not had in February and March, when they should have been working on the budget.

Re: “The Contenders

Here's what Fagan said:
“Men and women are not equal,” he said. “Biologically, there are differences between men and women. Is a 150-pound woman (police officer) going to be able to control a 250-pound, out-of-control so-and-so?”…

Re: “'Competitive Streak'

Some hard hitting journalism here!

Seriously, is Riccelli going to file a PDC form for this? I wonder what his position on Mcleary is or if he has any ideas how to pass a transportation bill.

Re: “The Shea Rebellion

"Sen. Mike Padden says Shea has learned lots about politics, relationships and working with others."

That's a pretty low bar, considering we all finished elementary school.

Re: “What is Blight?

Amber Waldref actually said, "Spokane, I think, is just very proud that we don't really have slum areas like you would see in other cities."
That is insane. What would she call the area between Indiana and Foothills? Or the area between the freeway and 7th on the lower SH? Or most of Hillyard? Or the vacant BLOCKS in the downtown core?
There are elementary schools where more than 95% of the kids get free lunch. You know what you call an area where nearly 100% of the people live in poverty? A slum.
I could go off for a long time on this topic, but I won't. If our elected officials won't even acknowledge the fundamental problems (because the words associated with it make people feel bad), how will they begin to address the issues?
