Re: “Football Coaches

Football mom: you obviously know nothing about football and the season´s over so no sense explaining it to you now but here goes anyway... Hard work doesn´t mean that your son will play Varsity. Your kids aren´t always going to be the best at everything but there´s something to be said about the hard work that goes into TRYING to be your best and giving it your all. It´s not "belittling" your sons when the coaches chew butt for mistakes made on the field - that´s a necessary part of their jobs to give criticism when needed and praise when deserved. Babying your sons doesn´t do them any favors in life. No prospective employer is going to give him a job just to be nice and to avoid hurt feelings. Nothing rewarding comes easy. Whether or not your son plays Varsity he is learning valuable life lessons by being part of that team. Those life lessons are the real reward to your son´s hard work. When you undermine these coaches with your negative comments YOU are the one who is ruining it for our seniors. I would hope that YOU would be the one to take a look in the mirror..... Do you really feel that by attempting to make the world a soft and fuzzy place for him that you are helping him develop into a man of character? I understand that desire to have your child succeed at everything. Unfortunately, that´s an unrealistic expectation... Please help your son understand that that does not equal failure or a waste of time.
And please, stop the senseless tirade, you´re embarrassing yourself. I don´t know you, but your salty language speaks volumes. Think of your own actions and what they´re teaching your son: that if you don´t get your own way it´s perfectly acceptable to throw a tantrum and lob insults at the people in charge. I do find reading your weekly Jeers fairly comical, but at the same time I´m becoming tired of your ignorance.
