Minor Ka-boom -- We wouldn't exactly say that the local all-ages scene is booming, but it wouldn't be too far off to at least say it's sizzling hotter than it has in quite some time. Lately on weekend nights, there have been more than a few all-ages shows to choose from among the Big Easy, Fat Tuesday's, Rock Coffee, The Spike and the newest kid on the all-ages block, the Molotov Room. Located at 3023 E. Diamond Ave. (yes, it's in Hillyard), the Molotov has a loaded schedule through the end of May featuring Spokane standards like Mang, the Creeps, Scatterbox and Lucia's Grey Dot. And they are already breaking boundaries--we screeched in surprise at the sight of their industrial/electronic Fetish Friday night in mid-May. Keeping it Local -- Are you a local performer in a solo act, duo, band or loose association? If so, it's time to stop being so quiet about it. The Inlander Local Music Issue is coming on May 19, and while it's still just a blip on the edge of our story radar screens, we want to throw a heads-up your way. Here it is: If you haven't sent us a press kit recently (bio, picture, CD if you have one, presents, etc.), now is definitely the time to do it. If you have sent us something like that within the last year (and many of you have), thanks -- we've got you covered -- unless there's something new we might not be aware of, in which case, ring our bell again. Like your mom, we love it when you keep in touch.
