by Inlander Staff & r & Changed, Not Cancelled & r & The Molotov Room, rumor has it, is closed, possibly forever. That's a kidney punch for fans of the harder stuff. One of the shows cancelled in the wake of this was We're From Japan, who were set to play yesterday. They're a gorgeously textured troupe of instrumentalists not unlike Mogwai. It was set to be a hell of a show. Luckily, there have been various dealings, and the band is now set to play Mootsy's tonight. It's like you've been given a second chance. Make the most of it.
Postponed, Not Cancelled & r & Further, Kelly Clarkson has postponed her trip to Spokane and our Star Theatre. Note, that was postponed and not cancelled. The tickets you already bought are still valid. For those looking to place blame, it was because of severe bronchitis and had nothing to do with last week's Sound Advice.
Always on Time, Like Grandpa & r & Let's switch gears and cover a band that's actually playing its scheduled set at its scheduled venue. The Gorge, this Saturday, will end its summer of concerts the way its guests are ending their long careers -- not with a bang, but a whimper. I'm not sure who is actually the bigger band these days, popularity-wise, but Styx IS headlining. They're accompanied by REO Speedwagon and Foreigner.
If you're going as part of some larger sociological experiment, remember this: nobody calls REO Speedwagon "REO Speedwagon". Real fans call them "REO" or simply "The Speedwagon." Go with God, be safe from evil.
Close to Dave Matthews & r & If that wasn't enough observational fun, go to Fat Tuesday's on Tuesday, Sept. 20, to find out what Tim Reynolds does when he's not around Dave Matthews. (OK, still wondering? He plays a wicked acoustic guitar, that's what.)
