The gig was to take place on March 9, but now, with the date closer than ever, the show has been cancelled due to "unforeseen circumstances." KPBX listeners weep, your god has forsaken you.





Triple Threat & r & This weekend, in the lead-up to Mardi Gras, the benevolent folks at the Coeur d'Alene Casino are giving us three chances (Sunday, Monday and again on Fat Tuesday) to see Dwayne Dopsie Rubin and the Zydeco Hellraisers. That's right. Not only do they possess perhaps the longest, most absurd name in the history of music, they're a frickin' zydeco band! Zydeco, for those of you who aren't familiar, is a heavily syncopated Creole folk music born deep in the bayou and employing a type of washboard called a frottoir. If you're still confused, think back to that band you saw last week on Gilmore Girls, auditioning to play Lorelai's wedding ... you know you watch that show, grow up.
