Ice Jam -- Your Buzz Bin editrix isn't exactly known for her grace. In fact, the last time she went ice skating (1983) she emerged from the Riverfront Park's Ice Palace with bruised legs, a sprained ankle and scratches on her hands from falling down and hugging the wall too tightly.
While you won't, therefore, see anyone from the Buzz Bin at next week's Smucker's Stars on Ice, you will see Olympic gold medalist Sarah Hughes, world champions Todd Eldredge and Yuka Sato, pairs medalists Jamie Sale and David Pelletier, and many, many more. The theme for this year's show - "Imagination" - is a natural given how Stars on Ice combines the powerful athleticism of ice-skating with Emmy Award winning production values. If you think you've seen it before, remember that Stars on Ice reinvents itself every year and this year they've got seven gold medalists on the tour. Go check it out, next Thursday, Jan. 6, at the Spokane Arena!
More Kudos for Wi-Fi -- You may have heard Craigslist.com has started serving the Spokane market; when Craigslist CEO Jim Buckmaster considers adding another city to the international bulletin board, he looks first at Internet use and tech-savvy in that city. So what did he see in Spokane that persuaded him to add the city to the roll? "We were very impressed by the city's establishment of public WiFi in the downtown area," he said. "Very progressive, and worthy of emulation."
Post-Christmas Toy Report -- One of our Buzz Bin staffers spent more than a little time with Mattel's Hot Wheels Lava Land Slimecano Playset this past weekend and found the contraption not worth its hefty $50 price tag. But the slime that comes with it? It's amazing -- viscous and full of purple chunks - (just the way we like it!).
