New Directions -- Having already hired Nike Imoru to handle the artistic decisions, Spokane Interplayers Ensemble has also named a new executive director to manage fund-raising and financial decision-making. It's someone who has plenty of local singing experience -- with the Spokane Symphony, Spokane Opera, local musical theaters and much more -- but also someone who has overseen operations and increased the budgets and program sizes of children's choruses both here and in Illinois: Tamara Schupman.

Interplayers' 2004-05 season opens on Sept. 2 with Same Time, Next Year, a romantic comedy about two lovers who get together just once a year. (Coincidentally, on Aug. 1, the same play concludes the Idaho Rep's season down in Moscow.) A 1920s version of Dracula arrives in time for Halloween. Imoru emphasizes that the Christmas play, the Seattle Rep's Inspecting Carol, will be a community-wide production featuring both onstage and backstage artists drawn, as much as possible, from the greater Spokane area, with auditions set for Aug. 3. Sam Shepard's True West opens in January, Othello premieres in March, and the '70s comedy A Coupla White Chicks Sitting Around Talking will be performed in April, with the May-June slot left TBA. Visit www.interplayers.com or call 455-PLAY.

Mini Vroom -- Summer's here, and the open road is calling. National Custom Motorworks will kick off the season with Summer Thunder, a motorcycle car rally on June 19 at 10 am. The shop specializes in 50 cc mini Harleys -- which will be the featured bike of the ride. All bikes are welcome, but be prepared to go a little slower than usual. The ride will continue on to Forshee's Last Resort on Long Lake, where free camping, a barbecue, live music, a comedian and a magician will be available. The ride and camping are free to everyone. Questions? Call Josh at National Custom Motorworks at 892-2111.

Korrection Korner -- Last week's super-mondo-bigass-issue (Summer Guide, our biggest ever) took a lot out of us. So much so that we couldn't quite get up the energy to fact-check our work as thoroughly as we would have liked. Therefore, our humble list of corrections. First, the name of the actress playing Milly in Coeur d'Alene Summer Theatre's production of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers was incorrectly reported in our June 10 issue. Kelly Kunkel stars as Milly. (You can read all about in our review on page 30.) Also, the Shop's Outdoor Movie series begins in July, not June. The first two shows are on July 17 and July 24.
