Not Wearing Versace

So the writers strike has reduced Sunday night's Golden Globes to a press conference. Starlets will learn their fates while still at home in their jammies. But there would be no chance anyway to impress Oscar voters with Beverly Hills behavior that's gracious, clever or at least halfway sober: Oscar ballots are due back on Saturday. (You do have the TiVo set for Tuesday, Jan. 22, at 5:30 am, right?)

Out, Giant Spot

Opera needs a big screen. In Verdi's opera, when Lady Macbeth goes insane, it's scarier if she's 15 feet tall. So, go to NorthTown Mall this Saturday at 10:30 am and watch the live broadcast from New York's Met. Visit www.metoperafamily.org. When the witches do their wicked Sabbath dance, you can throw popcorn at the screen.

Fox Noise

Emotionally Crippled
