Off-campus: The neighborhood on the eastern boundary of campus is quite happening. Old favorites are Starbucks and Pete's Pizza, but now there's also a huge new Sonic Burrito, and don't forget David's Pizza -- which clearly makes some of the best pizza in the world. There's also a drugstore, Safeway, several gas stations and a second-hand clothing store. And for the older students, there's always the Bulldog and Jack and Dan's.





On-campus: The Crosby Student Center is the main place for food and services, but there's also Spike in the COG -- a smaller restaurant that serves hamburgers, smoothies and sandwiches. The main espresso 'well' is in the Crosby Center, but there's also a brand new one in the new law school building.





Events


At the Jundt Museum, a Jim Hodges exhibit titled "Constellation of an Ordinary Day" opens on Sept. 2 and runs through Nov. 2. Gonzaga opens two new residential halls named after Rev. Francis Dillon, S.J., and Rev. Herman Goller, S.J., on Sept. 19. There are several events planned to commemorate Sept. 11, including a vigil for peace and an interfaith prayer vigil on Sept. 10, followed by several masses and the tolling of the bells on Sept. 11. On Sept. 12, there will be a faculty concert at the Met. Basketball doesn't start until November -- and the schedule isn't finalized yet -- so all you Bulldog fans out there have to be patient, although many look forward to the first practice, always held at one minute after midnight on the first day allowed by the NCAA.
