Non-traditional and technical schools offer a variety of courses and class times that can accommodate even the busiest of schedules. A few of these schools in the Spokane area include Apollo College, ITT Technical Institute, Webster University and Park University.
Apollo College has been in the Spokane area since 1996. In that time, the school has trained students for careers in the medical field and has grown significantly. Programs are offered for dental assisting and other forms of medical assistance. Instructors are hand-picked from the local professional community and students are given real-life experience with hands-on education. The school is currently preparing for expansion of its facilities and class offerings. Look for a larger Apollo College in the near future.
ITT is located in the Spokane Valley and offers curriculum leading to associate's and bachelor's degrees. Courses range from computer-aided drafting to online classes in technical project management. ITT accounted for the largest percentage of associate's and bachelor's degrees given for electronics in the U.S. during the 1996-97 school year. Webster University is located on Fairchild Air Force Base, and is part of a world-wide conglomerate of universities based in St. Louis. Webster offers classes to military and civilian students that include a Master of Business Administration degree and others. The facilities incorporate state-of-the-art classrooms combined with computer labs featuring the latest technology to offer students a, as the slogan says, "world class education."
Park University is an independent private institution with 38 campuses around the world and on the Internet -- including one on Fairchild Air Force Base. Founded in Missouri in 1875, the university today offers its services to more than 17,500 students at its original Parkville campus, campuses in Kansas City and Independence, Mo., and at 36 military and non-military campuses in 20 other states. Park is the largest provider of on-line instruction to the military, but it also offers traditional day, weekend and evening programs, awarding both bachelor's and master's degrees.
