Hangouts

On-campus: The Student Union Building is where the food and the coffee is at -- unless you want to go across the river. Students also meet at the newly remodeled rec center, and the beautifully landscaped campus has many a good place to study outside

Off-campus: You basically have to head back across the river, toward Northwest Boulevard, to find any other food services than what's offered on campus. It's just a short drive, and once you are there plenty of pizzerias, cafes and other quirky little stores cater to the commuting student

Events/new in 2002:

A very popular event at SFCC is the Colloquial Series, which last year hosted 24 events, bringing speakers such as Ralph Nader and Winona Laduke to campus. This year's theme is, "Responsibility: Global, Civic, Personal, expect great things" -- the speakers are yet to be announced. This fall, SFCC is partnering with the Washington State Trial Lawyers Association to put on a "People's Law School." For a flat fee of $35, students get access to 14 evening classes covering constitutional rights, landlord/tenant rights and small business law, among many other things.
