Hangouts


Off campus: Not far from school, you can find a variety of stores, many within the Palouse Empire Mall, which includes The Bon Marche and Gottschalks. There is also a movie theater in the same vicinity. Brucer's is a coffee shop and eatery where many students go.


On Campus: The Idaho Commons is in the center of campus with a place to eat, a bookstore and student services. The Common Grounds is a popular coffee shop where students go to eat, talk or study.





Events


Dad's Weekend begins on Sept. 29, with a football game against Boise State at Martin Stadium. Distinguished writer Charles Baxter will be on campus Oct. 2-12. There will be a powwow in the Kibbie Dome on Oct. 12. Homecoming is Oct. 20, and the highly touted Vandals will battle Louisiana-Lafayette at Martin Stadium.





New in 2001


Bob's Place, the cafeteria at UI, is being redone. There is also a noontime program with bands coming to play every other week.





U of I in Coeur d'Alene


Idaho's branch campus in the Lake City has grown in the last two years and should take off even more next year, when the campus moves to the Harbor Center facility. Today, about 400 students take U of I classes at North Idaho College, primarily in teaching and counseling.
