Sound Advice

Oh, Nell -- Little Nell's Records at 711 N. Monroe St. has been serving the needs of local vinyl addicts -- as well as those of music lovers in general -- for the past 30 years. All of that is unfortunately coming to an end this month with the store's closure. According to owner and number one employee Eloise Moeller, Little Nell's had been just barely surviving through the recent Monroe Street Bridge reconstruction when word came down that the completion date for the project had been pushed back another six months. And so she has reluctantly decided to call it quits by the end of March. Meanwhile, she's running the sale to (literally) end all sales. So be sure to stop in and say "hello" to Eloise and "so long" to the store before it's gone.

The No-Show -- For those of you who showed up for last Saturday night's hip-hop show featuring the unmatched talent of Heiruspecs, then walked away when the band failed to show up, B-Side owner Ben Cater offers this: "The reason the for the Heiruspecs no-show, as explained to me the day of the show, was that their MC, Felix, inhaled part of a mic at their show Friday in Bend (Ore.) thus screwing up his throat ... weird," he says.

Weird -- that's for sure. We'd kind of like to see photos of said mic-inhalation. What exactly does it look like when a grown man inhales a microphone? Well, we just don't know.

The Luck of the Drunks -- You don't have to have a drop of Irish blood in you to enjoy St. Paddy's Day -- and especially not to whoop it up at the annual Fast Eddie's party held in the bar's rear parking lot. You can cram down green eggs and ham this Saturday, March 12, starting at 8 am. Too Slim and the Other White Meat will play, and it's only five bucks to stay all day long. Music? Beer? Why, this has Inlander staff written all over it.
