Shadle teacher returns to class on Monday

Brad Read, the Shadle teacher who was put on paid administrative leave earlier this month for playing the Blue Scholars' song "Commencement Day" for his class, will return to the classroom next week. Turns out, it wasn't just the Scholars' song that pissed off parents and administrators — it was Read's showing of George Carlin's "The American Dream" bit that got them riled.

Read signed this "Suspension Without Pay & Last Chance Agreement" (pdf) yesterday: a letter from Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Staci Vesneske. It's a five-page letter detailing how Read lied during the investigation of his choice of teaching materials, and how this will be his last strike before the district boots him altogether.
