Back in May, we wrote a piece about the local contingent of
"birthers," conspiracy theorists who think that President Barack Obama was not born in the United States and, thus, is not qualified
to be president. We wondered if the release of Obama's long-form
birth-certificate would quell their suspicions. (It didn't.)
One of the birthers we interviewed — radio host Laurie Roth, of Elk, Wash. — announced today that she's running for president.
According to a press release, Roth will be on the ballot in California, running on the American Independent ticket. And she hasn't backed away from her birther claims:
"Obama ineligible to be President," the press release reads. "He has presented a verified forgery of his long term birth certificate on April 27th 2011."
As for her other platforms, she says she would create a 2 percent point-of-purchase tax, use all technology available to stop illegal aliens, and "promote Judeo-Christian Values in America."
