Humor Us: This weekend in comedy

FRIDAY!
For both the first time in a while and the last time for a while, we shall be graced with the sketch comedy stylings of the RUBE GOLDBERG DEVICE this Friday and Saturday at the Blue Door Theater. If you need a refresher on their comedic glory, check out our story here.

It's been a couple months since RGB's last show, which was a blend of live four-five minute sketches, pre-recorded video sketches and some improv comedy. Since, they've axed the improv and compiled a full hour-and-a-half of new sketch. That was fast.

"Yep," says RGB member Tom Meisfjord. "We’re impressive."

The new set continues on with the style RGB has mastered — finding humor in the mundane. The audience can look forward to Batman at the DMV, a cooking show called "Rock-Hard Cooks" and "the most depressing monster truck rally commercial in the world," among other things.

RGB has another new addition, local actress Joni Elizabeth, who is also currently the group's sole female member.

"We’re really stoked to have her, because we scare women away really quickly in this group," says Meisfjord. "We're gonna make her cry tonight. She's going to be hilarious."

The shows this weekend will be the last until next year, says Meisfjord. So don't miss the opportunity to go. RGB performs at the Blue Door Theater this Friday at 10 pm, and Saturday at 7 pm and 9 pm. Tickets are $7-$9 and can be purchased at the box office or by calling 747-7045. The place fills up fast, so reservations are recommended.

Also performing tonight are comedians BOB BAILEY and JOHN FERLUGA. Bailey has quite the comedic resume, having been named Showtime's "Funniest Man in Washington." He also appeared on HBO and (for unclear reasons) The History Channel. Show starts at 8 pm and will set you back $12. Call 483-7300 for reservations.

SATURDAY!
Joan Rivers is still making money by (loudly) voicing her malcontent, mainly focusing her efforts on what other people are wearing. Whee. Head to Northern Quest Casino if this is your bag. Show starts at 8 pm and costs $50. Call 242-7000 for tickets and whatnot.

Also, Round Two of Bailey and Ferluga is going down at Bluz at the Bend. See above.
