Riverspeak holding a charrette on the Spokane arts scene tomorrow

This Saturday at 2 pm, Riverspeak, the arts collective, is hosting an arts charrette to help Spokane's various arts orgs/artists/agitators get on the same page and make some serious plans.

The charrette will take place at the downtown branch of the public library and is expected to last about three hours.

Organizers say they intend to get people in a room to "work to come together and set a road map of sorts to insure that the arts remain an integral part of this community."

It will take off from where last year's State of the Arts symposium at Saranac Art Projects left off, moving from a discussion of needs to concrete action items

Topics will include:

  • Venues
  • Publishing
  • Studio Space
  • Workshops
  • Arts Education
  • Patronage
  • Critique
  • Funding for artists/grants
  • Non-traditional media
  • Civic engagement
  • Community art projects
  • Volunteer needs

That's a lot to get through, but your time will be well-rewarded. There will be an after-party at the recently christened Scout immediately following.
