THIS WEEKEND IN MUSIC: Dance! Elvis! Satriani!

TONIGHT!

When you're out for First Friday this evening, be sure to drop in to Far West Billiards to check out the first of the monthly Feed the Artist series (showcasing the work of AMIA and Lance Paulin tonight), where DJ Likes Girls will be spinning from 8 to 10 pm. Spinning dance music of all kinds from the last five decades, Likes Girls is quickly becoming a favorite on Spokane's dancefloors. 8 pm. Donations for the artists. Gotta be 21.

For dancing of a completely different nature, head to Aclub for a show by the always entertaining local swing and jazz juggernaut, 6 Foot Swing. 9 pm. $5. Gotta be 21.

Come revel in the last days of Empyrean this weekend. Koreshakti Tribal Fusion will transform the space into their own personal ice castle. The belly dance group performs its Ice Queens show alongside tribal/trip-hop/electronic/world group Pax Lumina (read our story on the band here) tomorrow and Saturday at 7:30 pm. $10. All-ages.

SATURDAY!

There's Northwest rock. And then there's rock that's all about the Northwest. That's what you'll get from Hey is for Horses!, who we profiled this week here. They play tomorrow evening in the spacious Aclub with Reverb and the Soul and the Machine. 9 pm. $5. Gotta be 21.

The King would be 78 this year, so Spokane's best (and only?) Elvis impersonator, Ben "Preslee" Klein, will take the stage at Ichiban tomorrow night, on Presley's birthday, to pay tribute to him. He and his band, the Vintage People, will perform tributes to Roy Orbison, Connie Francis and Patsy Cline as well. The 9 pm show is all-ages, with a 21-and-over show at 11. Both shows are $5.

SUNDAY!

Guitar god Joe Satriani, who's shared stages and bands with both Sammy Hagar and Slash, brings his show to the Bing Crosby Theater on Sunday. Read our story about his new album here. 7 pm. $42 - $65. All-ages.
