It's the moment you've been waiting for or dreading, depending on how you lean politically: the final sitting of this incarnation of the Spokane City Council.
This will be the last time four of its members — Steve Corker, Richard Rush, Bob Apple and Joe Shogan — will take to the dais. But if the agenda is to be believed, this council has set itself up to go out with a bang.
There are 10 final-reading ordinances on the agenda. seven appointments, three special considerations and two first reading ordinances. Among these:
- A proposal by Councilman Richard Rush to remove taxes from the city's sewer, water and trash utilities.
- An ordinance by Councilman Jon Snyder that would adopt the Complete Streets policy into the city code.
- An ordinance by Council President Joe Shogan that will raise the penalty for parking at an expired meter to $25, from $15.
