Remember: Objects in motion tend to stay in motion. Objects in front of the TV tend to go nowhere.

Skiing and riding in the Inland Northwest will excite your senses, nourish your spirit and inspire your imagination. The smell of fresh pine, a cool winter chill, and feet of freshly fallen snow make for a great way to spend the holidays with friends and family.

Travel to your local ski area's Web sites and you'll find a lot of good information on everything from current snow reports to skills development programs, resort services, and lodging links. The Ski NW Rockies Web site at www.skinwrockies.com provides a wide variety of winter sports information, including links to all the local resorts, ski clubs, equipment tips, and national snow news. Find information on the EZ Ski or Snowboard 1-2-3 programs that include up to three lessons with equipment and lift tickets for unbelievably low prices. You can also obtain an application form for the 5th Grade Ski FREE Passport Program right online. Yes, 5th Graders have the opportunity to ski or snowboard three times at each of the five Inland Northwest Resorts for FREE!

When skiing or snowboarding this winter, remember to use common sense and think about safety issues on the slopes. The National Ski Areas Association, Professional Ski Instructors of America and the National Ski Patrol all endorse the following:

YOUR RESPONSIBILITY CODE

1. Stay in control.

2. People ahead of you have the right of way.

3. Stop in a safe place for you and others.

4. When starting downhill or merging, look uphill and yield.

5. Use devices to help prevent runaway equipment.

6. Observe signs and warnings, and keep off closed trails.

7. Know how to use the lifts safely.

All of the Ski NW Rockies resort owners, managers, and staff wish you and yours a very merry holiday season and a most happy new year.
