Moscow’s own Psychic Rites are fresh off of their West Coast tour playing Carr’s Corner with Bandit Train and Brothers Ov Midnight tonight. The electronic trio was one of this year’s Bands to Watch. The show starts at 9 pm. If you can’t make it out Friday, the act is also playing Mikey’s Gyros Saturday with The Kitchen and Matt Akers.

Before Macklemore and Ryan Lewis ripped the Seattle underground hip-hop scene out of the closet there was the Blue Scholars. Also a duo, consisting of vocalist George “Geologic” Quibuyen and beat-maker Saba “Sabzi” Mohajerjasbi, the rap group has been at it since 2002 after meeting while at the University of Washington. Headlining Saturday’s downtown Gleason Fest, which raises money for the Gleason Initiative Foundation, an ALS awareness organization headed up by native Spokanite and former NFL player Steve Gleason, the pair heads back to Spokane to invoke its own brand of social lyricism on their fans. Other bands taking the stage that day are SSSSnake, Delbert the Band, Hey Marseilles, Holly Wood, Stone Tobey, Hey! Is For Horses, The Rustics, Organic Beats and Keenan Magik. The show runs from noon to 11 pm and is $15 for anyone over 12; those young ones will get in free.
