So this is the New Year … (thank you Death Cab for Cutie). Let’s hear it for a new year of awesome possibilities in the Spokane music scene. This weekend kicks everything off.
FRIDAY
Tonight is the first First Friday of the year. Sure, it’s mostly about local art and drinking wine but many places have music too. Don’t miss it. It will last from 5 to 8 pm.
Jones Radiator is hosting Cursive Wires. Here's a country band that is unafraid to play shows with any sort of musical act. But rest assured, this music is country in its purest form. The five-piece electric country band has only been together since last year, but in the meantime they've written ramblin' man ditties that'll make you want to two-step for sure. It's the real deal. Go Man Gos and Ampersand will open. The show starts at 9 pm.

SATURDAY
Maybe you’ve never been to an EDM show before. Saturday could be your night. Hot Boi Productions presents “Neon Life” starting at 7 pm. Local DJs and MCs make up the lineup with 1Slurr, Free D, Bronny, Squad, Kirby and more. If you’re over 21 you get in for free, otherwise it’s $5.
TUESDAY
From over the Cascades they come. In 2011, the Dusty 45s played backing band to rockabilly pioneer Wanda Jackson when she opened for Adele on the West Coast leg of her tour. Back in Spokane Tuesday, the band brings its flavorful brand of Americana to nYne Tuesday at 7 pm, with every bit of force it had while touring with two of the finest female vocalists of all time. The act has been together since 1997, and in that time, it’s perfected the craft of mixing Dixie country, jump blues and surf rock.
WEDNESDAY
There’s about to be a lot of blood on the Carr’s Corner stage, figuratively, figuratively. Local thrashy, death metal act Cold Blooded kicks off its tour with heavy metal phenoms Dislich (of Moscow) and Bloody Gloves. It’s only $5 to attend and have your face melted off.
