Jerusalem Middle Eastern Cuisine food truck.

Honk! Honk! It’s time to eat! Whether you’re running around town or strolling through a street fair, nothing’s as delightful as getting a snack or a meal from a truck. Turns out, it’s pretty darn delicious, too. If you’re having a hard time making a decision, here are recommendations from Inlander readers, who’ve got the best taste in the Spokane-Coeur d’Alene area. The following food trucks earned the most votes in our readers’ poll for the Inlander’s annual Best of the Inland Northwest issue.

JERUSALEM MIDDLE EASTERN CUISINE
Jerusalem is an enduring city for plenty of reasons, and one of those reasons has got to be its food. Taste the storied history of the Middle East right here in Spokane, passed down to you from the window of a bright orange truck. Kofta sliders, shawarma wraps, rice bowls with saffron and tahini — wherever your next steps take you, you’ll be on a journey of discovery through swirling spices and dazzling homemade dishes. Majda Ritchie grew up in Jerusalem, so you know it’s the real deal. Her first delighted “customer” was her husband, Dan, who can personally attest to a cuisine conversion. The rest of the city hasn’t been far behind!

It's not shawarma without the skewer.

SKEWERS
VOTED INLANDER’S BEST FOOD TRUCK IN 2025
You can never go wrong with Skewers. Mirak Kazanjian brought shawarma to Spokane and the city has been tastier ever since. If you’re new to Armenian or Lebanese food, you’ve gotta try the rotisserie-roasted beef or chicken slathered in garlic or roasted red pepper sauce. But the truck is nearly as loved for its deep fried falafel and Middle Eastern fries with sumac and whipped feta. Skewers has earned such a following since it first hit the road in 2016 that Kazanjian opened a brick and mortar location on First Avenue in 2023. The only thing stronger than Kazanjian’s love for Armenian food is his devotion to preserving Armenian history and culture — and when you step into the beautiful, cozy dining room, you’re able to see why.

OH BABY! TEX MEX BBQ
Coeur d’Alene locals Mark and Heather Nehlich had had enough of the Seattle restaurant world, so they packed up their things, their BBQ sauce recipes and their love for Tex-Mex and headed back home. Thankfully, they opened a food truck at Chalice Brewing smack dab in the middle of downtown so they could still share their good food and even better vibes. Everything on the menu — be it smoked brisket, charro beans, pickled jalapeños or hot sauce — is scratch-made.

ONE NIGHT STAND BBQ
One Night Stand BBQ — a midnight black truck licked by red hot flames — is as immediately recognizable as your ex. Its barbecue is just as recognizable for its pure, unadulterated smoked meats. Texas-style barbecue means just three ingredients: beef, salt and pepper. Because Inlander readers know, if it needs sauce, it’s hiding something. That doesn’t mean that you have to pass on good sides, though, like potato salad or coleslaw. Or, if you’re really feeling frisky, the Frito Pie might just steal your heart forever.

TACOS EL GUERO
Tacos are always better from a truck, and especially if they’re from Tacos El Guero’s truck. These street tacos come with your choice of asada, pollo, chorizo or adobada with just onions, cilantro and lime per “los tradicionales del pueblo,” or, the traditions of the village, which is Tacos El Guero’s motto. If you can’t find the truck, you can stop by the permanent location to get your fix on Tuesday, or any day of the week except Sunday.

BEST AVENUE TACO WORKS
Looking for a taco truck in Coeur d’Alene? Head over to Best Avenue, which doesn’t lie about its Mexican food. The bright orange truck is often credited for the best Mexican food in town, which includes sopas, tortas and chimichangas alongside burritos and tacos. Move over Taco Tuesday — Taco Works celebrates Super Taco Wednesday, Burrito Thursday and Birria Friday. While we’re on the subject of “bests,” it’s also best if you call ahead.

ANGIE’S TACOS
Karaoke? Open mic? Shredding the slopes or landing kickflips? The vibes are good, and Angie’s is there. Find Spokane’s favorite taco truck parked outside Garland Drinkery or the sports goods store Solnix for food that will fill your stomach and soul. Grab a couple traditional street tacos, or, if you’re really hungry (or really worried about a hangover) try a “big taco” with extra meat on an extra big corn tortilla. It’s also one of the only trucks in the area where you can get a tripa (beef intestine) taco.

ON THE HOOK FISH & CHIPS
There’s a reason On the Hook has served over 5 million fish ’n’ chips meals in nearly 10 years of business. Wild Alaskan cod are caught one by one on a fishing line, not with a net. They’re flash frozen on the boat they’re reeled into, then shipped all across the country. They’re hand battered in beer batter right in front of you and fried to order, and then they’re served with a secret sauce that only two people in the entire world know the recipe for. It’s hard not to get hooked.

Island Style Food & BBQ's kalbi rib plate.

ISLAND STYLE FOOD & BBQ
Kalbi ribs? Fries of Furi? Halo Halo and ube soft serve? Uh, yes PLEASE! This ube-r popular food truck earned a permanent place in our hearts and on Division Street in 2023, but Nicholas DeCaro, aka Chef Sin’, still spreads his love across the whole city through plenty of take away orders and a reputation for giving back through fundraisers and community celebrations. Island Style is Inlander readers’ go-to spot for Lechon Kawali, aka Filipino fried pork belly, house-made teriyaki sauce, or Pika Pineapple sauce that you can buy by the bottle. It’s also a go-to spot for plenty of local and nonlocal athletes, like UW alum and Tampa Bay Buccaneer Devin Culp, ultra runner and former Zag James Mwaura, local Zag basketball celeb Anton Watson and the entire UCLA women’s basketball team.
