Re: “In the Name of Justice

All I get from this article is a lot of whining from people who didn't get their own way... when you say you want to "face the music" be ready to have consequences for your actions no matter how old they are. I'm sorry but you made the decision to commit a crime, not society and not the judge - be willing actually "face the music" instead of just saying the words. You may have done great things such as cleaning up your life, but ultimately your past actions affected and probably hurt other members of society. When you decide to drink and drive, you put the people of our community at risk. I have a child, it is more important to me that an individual who chooses to act that recklessly be monitored (financial burden or not) than be out in the world possibly putting my child at risk. All said, the prosecutors I know and work with are all fair and strive for justice and community improvement. One of the brilliant things about our criminal justice system is that it allows a lot of discretion, in turn allowing parties to work to the ultimately best solution. This article doesn't appear to tell the whole story. Jail is not always the best solution, but at the same time, sometimes it is a necessary one. Just my two cents.
