Re: “Put a pot shop in every center

First, we have to shrug off the stereotype (that even Luke uses), stoner, and look to the future of people who enjoy weed in the same way as having a triple shot espresso, a fine craft beer, or a Pinot Gris. Yes, there will always be over-indulgers in any intoxicant, but since marijuana isn't as heavily addictive as heroin or brain-scrambling as crack or destructive as meth, we ought to embrace and motivate the creative people growing it and selling it legally.
Shed those tiresome tropes of degeneracy, because the reality which the smoking community knows is this: We are sane working professionals for the most part.
I've been to Amsterdam back in the day when the conservatives weren't holding sway, and yes, though it is a more heavily populated city than Spokane, it endeavored to respect those who smoked...and even allowed herb to be smoked in their establishments (even exculding tobacco smoking!). How long will it be before Spokane does the same?
How long will it be before the stigma of shame will be lifted from those smoking herb and when we see someone light up, when we consider it no different from someone drinking a beer?
Spokane has a unique opportunity here to stand up amongst those sitting down in protest; I urge those who can afford to help support this growing trend to do so, despite what others think.
Yes, it will be long and arduous, but many a worthy endeavor is much so.

Analogy: We just brought a new kitten into our family; his name is Georgie. I am married to a wonderful wife and have a heck of a kid who is looking to her third year of study in a foreign country. We have two cool dogs and another skittish cat. This is the third day that we've had Georgie, and though we all agreed to get the new cat and are pretty much aligned as to how to introduce him to the family of pets, there have been differences. Introduce him one at a time to each of the dogs, let him loose in the house and let him approach all of the animals, be sure to put him in the downstairs bathroom at night so one of the more friendlier dogs doesn't bother him or the other cat doesn't fight him.
All the while, Georgie has been so laid back and friendly with all of us and all of the pets.

I think Georgie is like the marijuana issue here in Seattle and Colorado...and Oregon...and Florida...and all points.
