Lilac City Comicon 2021

After the postponement of 2020's Lilac City Comicon, plenty of anxious attendees geeked out at the Spokane Convention Center this past weekend, Oct. 2-3.

Joy and Joe Garcia came from Walla Walla to celebrate Joy’s birthday donning their best medieval Batman and Robin garb, respectively. With chainmail underneath their supersuits, they put a unique twist on the usual Gotham attire.

“Not too many people get it at first glance,” Joy Garcia says. “But, we had a great time making them so it’s nice to finally share them with the world.”

Comicon opens its doors to anyone interested in comics, superheroes, movies, books, anime, and more — so it’s not surprising to see a Hogwarts student hanging out with Tony Stark for the day. Attendees queued up to see special guest Jon Heder, of Napoleon Dynamite fame, and spent time walking through the main hall where vendors sold handmade goods related to every interest under the sun.
