Re: “The ABCs of R-A-C-E

While I agree some of the points had less merit than others, the bigger picture remains. Guess what, its 2014, and prejudice is alive and well. White on White prejudice, Black on White, White on Black, And all the colors you can dream up. Even from people of the same race, for such little things as hair style. You see, I've been growing my hair out for the last 19 months. Have always had short hair, after all I'm an engineer and thats what engineers do. My coworkers make comments about my hair, people look at me differently, and approach me differently. MY girlfriend, is white, and has dreadlocks. She works hard for her money 6 days a week and has the softest kindest heart of anyone I've ever known. For no reason other than her hair, she gets discriminated against, by cops, by waiters, by her own step mother, and by just about anyone who disapproves of her hair. Appearance is the ultimate freedom to us. No one can control what we look like in public. They can discriminate against us, that's their issue, not ours. And I feel sadness each and every day walking through a community of judgement. Not for myself, but for these masses of completely ignorant people in our town. I am too proud to tell these people how judgmental and lost they are. But I thank Rachel for all of her thoughts, and for reaching out, trying to strengthen our community through fostering new understandings and ideas.

To the posters above me on this thread, I'm sorry you fail to empathize with anyone's view but your own. Awareness is the most precious form of knowledge, and you certainly aren't aware of anything past your nose, besides your indoctrination in hate and disrespect. New ideas are difficult, you should try them on a bit more often. And trying doing something different, try being something different than your norm for a year or two, and it will open you eyes to your complete and utter ignorance.

Re: “'Lots of Drugs — All of Them Good'

@Ricardo, when you make public such negative assertions its best to provides examples of your disfavor. It helps the rest of us understand what brand of slime you are. All we know currently, is that you are incredibly judgmental, opinionated and lack critical thinking. Good luck with that in your life. I hope it serves you well, just stay away from me.
