Ora Cogan

Trying to capture Ora Cogan’s essence is like trying to bottle up a foreboding Pacific Northwest fog. While it might be fair to say the British Columbia singer-songwriter’s sound is rooted in folk music, that folk is infused with elements of goth, shoegaze and psychedelic rock to create a haunting haze of sound that feels truly her own. Cogan’s 2023 LP Formless drifts along with a sparse, simmering darkness that can make a listener feel like they’re getting lovingly lost in the twisting paths of an immense and carefully nurtured hedge maze.
