Scenes from the June 7 protest and march in downtown Spokane against police brutality

Thousands of demonstrators gathered in the Lilac Bowl in Riverfront Park to call attention to police brutality. They later marched through the streets, over the Monroe Street Bridge, to Boone Avenue and down Washington Street before returning to the park. Later, a few hundred demonstrators marched through the downtown area, into Peaceful Valley and to the Spokane County Courthouse before returning downtown. The demonstration was dedicated to Breonna Taylor, a black EMT in Louisville, Ky. who was shot and killed by police as they served a no-knock warrant on her apartment on March 13. Today's demonstration follows another peaceful protest last Sunday that later devolved into looting and rioting with police.
