by INLANDER & r & & r & & lt;span class= & quot;dropcap & quot; & I & lt;/span & t always seemed like Sebadoh would make the best soundtrack to a cough syrup bender. Lethargic, churning riffs and Lou Barlow's bored moan were mind-blowingly languid. Too bad they broke up before I was old enough to consider abusing over-the-counter medication. Minneapolis' THE LITTLE LEBOWSKI URBAN ACHIEVERS, though, are picking up the mantle of slow, grungy, not-quite-hardcore. To it, they're adding some NOFX-esque harmonizing (weird) and an angry, literate, serpentine lyrical delivery that reminds a dude of Propagandhi. Basically, then, they're every band I wish I'd discovered before college but didn't.

Consummate slackers, the four-piece can't even be asked to put out a true EP, let alone a full album. No, their dirty, boozy Is This a Party or an Intervention? is more like a glorified single. At three tracks and 10 minutes, it's a romp through down-tempo core that's in and out before you realize they've raided your medicine cabinet.

Nicely done.

& lt;span class= & quot;dropcap & quot; & O & lt;/span & K, rockers and bottle-bashers, it's time to give something back. COPS North Central is low on funds and needs your help. All you have to do is guzzle booze, listen to rock 'n' roll and donate a little dough to the cop shop.

Saturday at WORKING CLASS HEROES on North Monroe, bartender Vicki Bennett will be blocking off Shannon Street and having a BLOCK PARTY. The bartender felt she needed to get some people out to play a little rock for charity because she's so thankful to have the station so close to her bar. Bennett called in a bunch of favors from her old beer dispenser, the Top Hat, and the party's gonna heat up with Hot Rods, Harleys ... and policemen?

The dudes in blue will be hanging out too, listening to Maxie Mills, Nighthawk and DJ Top Jimmy -- so this time, if you drive drunk, you really will get nailed.

CORRECTION: The picture that ran with the Andy Mac story last week was of the wrong Andy Mac. Who'd have guessed there'd be two Andy Macs in the world? We should have, and we're incredibly sorry we didn't figure it out in time.
