Who Are These People? -- We've gotten a lot of great feedback on our glossy 10-year magazine, but one question comes up again and again: Who are those people on the cover? We left the names of our "panel of judges" out to add to the mystery -- but since you asked, here's the answer. From left to right, our first judge is Dave Johnson, an Inlander cohort from way back. Dave is a man of many chapeaux (including the cowboy hat), and he was the inspiration and model for our silly Bloomsday Boy character of the mid-1990s. Next up is Jaime Johnson, who is the catering manager at the Davenport Hotel. Jaime represents the grand old hotel we wrote about so much over the years, as well as the young urban professional who reads The Inlander every week. Then we have the unmasking: Yes, he does exist. It's none other than Ted S. McGregor Sr., father to Inlander founders Ted and Jer and husband to the other founder, Jeanne. (For Ted Sr., the scowl says it all.) And finally, in the tiara, we have Candy Weaver, an old friend of the McGregor family and, according to her grandson after he saw the issue, the "Queen of Riverfront Park."

Be First in Line -- Any city worth its salt has what's come to be called a "First Friday." What is it, you ask? Pretty much works like this: The first Friday of every month, participating galleries stay open. You visit said galleries. Easy, no? In fact, if you've ever done the Visual Arts Tour, it's pretty much the same idea. You got your art, you got your glass o'wine, you got your li'l nibblies, and you got your scintillating conversation. Alien on Ice? -- You may have been wondering what happened to Alien: The Director's Cut, which we teased on our cover last week. Well, 20th-Century Fox dramatically scaled back the release just as we were going to press last week. While we're still hoping Spokane will get the film, no one can confirm an actual opening date for us. Sorry!
