Cheap Tricked? -- We ran into these two disgruntled fans over at the Met last Friday night just before power pop icons Cheap Trick were to take the stage. It seems that when Cheap Trick was last in town (July 28, at the Playfair Racetrack Pavilion to be precise) they put on a less-than-stellar performance due to, among other things, the absence of drummer Bun E. Carlos and the mid-set meltdown of singer Robin Zander's voice, both due to illness. Guitarist Rick Nielsen apologized to the crowd that night and promised to return to Spokane to give fans a free show to make up for the lackluster one. Well, last Friday's show marked the band's return engagement. And in case you hadn't noticed, the tickets weren't exactly free. Picketing up and down in front of the Met and around Cheap Trick's tour bus with signs reading "I was Tricked by Cheap Trick" and "I want Cheap Trick to want me to have my free show," the pair took their case to concert-goers in Cheap Trick T-shirts, curious onlookers and even one of the band's roadies. Sadly, all to no avail. "I didn't even really care about the show," said one of the protesters after realizing no one from the band or its management had even noticed the demonstration. "All I really wanted was a free hat."

Our Town -- Our Town was one of the sleeper documentary hits of the year, winning awards at the Aspen, Palm Springs and L.A. film festivals. Now this portrayal of how Thornton Wilder's enduring play revitalized not only a high school but an entire community is at the Met and benefiting the drama departments of local schools. Twenty percent of ticket proceeds will go to designated schools on these dates and times: Sunday, Oct. 5, at 3 pm, Ferris High School Theater Arts Department; Thursday, Oct. 9, at 7:30 pm, Lewis & amp; Clark High School Drama Department; Friday, Oct. 10, at 7:30 pm, Shadle Park High School Drama Department; and Saturday, Oct. 11, at 3 pm, Havermale High School.

Spader Update -- If you read the Bin much, you know we love James Spader. We're not sure why, but such is love. Here's a tip: He's great in The Practice (ABC, 10 pm Sundays). Just added to the cast, his slimy fallen lawyer gives us a reason to watch the show again.
