ENTRÉE: Two chef-owned restaurants coming in early 2018; plus a Titanic dinner

It’s time for another round-up of the latest comings, goings and happenings in the Inland Northwest’s culinary community!

First up, we’ve caught wind of the projected opening for the latest project of one local chef who seems to never rest. Chef Adam Hegsted’s forthcoming downtown burger joint IncrediBurger & Eggs is slated to debut sometime in January, according to a post shared earlier this week on his Eat Good Group’s Facebook page.

IncrediBurger will be located in the former home of Dempsey’s Brass Rail bar on West First Avenue. The new eatery adds to Hegsted’s growing collection of regional restaurants, which includes The Wandering Table and The Yards Bruncheon in Kendall Yards, along with Gilded Unicorn in downtown Spokane, Eat Good Cafe in Liberty Lake, and two recently-opened spots in North Idaho: Republic Kitchen + Tap House in Post Falls, and Farmhouse Kitchen and Silo Bar in Ponderay.

Clover executive chef Travis Dickinson recently announced his impending departure from the upscale Logan Neighborhood restaurant inside a converted craftsman home to open a restaurant of his own called Cochinito Taqueria, located at 10 N. Post in downtown Spokane. The taqueria is described on its Facebook page as: “Spokane’s original chef driven taqueria. Using fine dining techniques, responsibly sourced ingredients and a craft beverage program in a casual experience.”

Dickinson is joined in the project by former Clover manager Justin Curtis. The eatery is scheduled, as it stands, to open sometime in February, so make sure to give Cochinito’s Facebook page a like (see previous link) to stay up on the latest updates.

Another regional brewery is closing down its operations later this month, though this time for good. (Last week we shared the news that River City Brewing Co. is closing its downtown tasting room at year’s end; however, its beers will still be produced and sold in bottles and kegs around the region.) New Boundary Brewing in Cheney announced early this week that its last day of operations will be Saturday, Dec. 23.

Though you still have plenty of time to visit the Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture’s current blockbuster exhibit Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition (on display through May 20) those who are interested will want to purchase tickets to a one-of-a-kind culinary tie-in to the exhibit as soon as possible.

On April 14, 2018, the 106th anniversary of the Titanic’s sinking, guests and supporters of the MAC can attend the A Night To Remember Titanic Gala, which features a recreation of the 10-course, First Class menu enjoyed by passengers aboard the ill-fated ocean liner on the night of its sinking. Items on the actual Titanic dinner menu included oysters, filet mignon, roast duckling, foie gras, Waldorf pudding and French ice cream.

Individual tickets for the black tie (period dress is also appropriate) event are on sale now for $150 each, with a table for 10 at $1,500. The dinner is to be held at the setting-appropriate Historic Davenport Hotel, and will be prepared by Chef Adam Swedberg and team.

IN THIS WEEK'S ISSUE
With three special cover sections (Snowlander, our Multimedia Gift Guide and a special collection of local women's #MeToo stories) in the Dec. 14 issue of the Inlander, we only had room for one food-related feature this week, but it's one not to miss. Check out our look-in on the growth of the region's coffee roasting industry, "The Other Brewing News," in print and online.
