Trial in Zehm death delayed Federal prosecutors at the last minute Monday, appealed a judge's ruling that a jury could not know Otto Zehm was innocent of any crime when he was approached and fatally beaten by Spokane Police Officer Karl Thompson and others in 2006. (S-R)

Sheriff makes changes at Geiger As part of revamping the jail, Geiger will become a pre-release center. This revelation comes less than a week after The Inlander reported on how the sheriff gutted community corrections programs at Geiger, while also laying off staff at the Airway Heights facility.
