It's an exciting day for local band, Horse Thieves, who are playing tonight at Jones Radiator and showing their fans, for the first time, its first full-production music video for "Dakota Wind II." We can't show it to you, since it debuts tonight and that'd be super-lame of us. BUT, we can tell you there are guns, horses and a lot of mean faces. Intrigued? You should be.

For now, here's a video of Horse Thieves — a band who won one of The Inlander's Bands to Watch slots in 2011 — playing their song "Throw the Dice." Check the new video tonight at Jones Radiator (120 E. Sprague) at around 8 pm. Free.

TONIGHT!

Sick Kids XOXO get the kids moving over in Missoula, and they come here tonight to throw a dance party at the Baby Bar. They play with DJ Drums and Summer in Siberia. 10 pm. Gotta be 21.

Formerly known as Judi's Place, Carr's Corner is kicking up its music offerings lately — tonight catch two Spokane favorites, the Camaros and Myth Ship, over there. 10 pm. Gotta be 21.

Moral Crux, a band that bridged the gap between pop and anarcho-punk in the 1980s around this area, plays Mootsy's tonight with Whiskey Dick Mountain. 10 pm. Gotta be 21.

SATURDAY!

Just when we thought the Flying Spiders, Spokane’s own hip-hip orchestra, couldn’t get any bigger, they did. The band now has a whopping 13 members, but their new EP — Spokane’s Finest — features 19 performers. Anchored by emcee Isamu Jordan, the Spiders are a little bit hip-hop, a little jazz, some soul and funk and everything in between. This EP release show starts with a giant fashion show (that’s all-ages) and then changes rooms at the Lincoln Center for the off-the-hook show. Clear your schedule. Be there. An all-ages Fashion Show starts at 7 pm, which will feature performances by Octoninjitsu, Jaeda, Freetime Synthetic and many more. The EP Release is for 21-and-over audiences, and will kick off at 9 pm.

Drag Like Pull, a local emo outfit, is losing its drummer soon (at our June 1 Block Party, in fact) — so catch them while you can. They play with the Hague, Jaeda and Guttahface at Mootsy's at 8 pm. $5. Gotta be 21.

Fresh back in Spokane after a stint in Korea, Andrew Walters (aka Locke) is back in town with all kinds of fresh beats and whatnot. He DJ's as Chico!, and plays a set at the Baby Bar tomorrow night. Free. Gotta be 21.

For dark, brooding DJ music, head to Jones Radiator for Brothers ov Midnite. They summon their cult around 9 pm. Free.

For a different kind of cult, head to the Knitting Factory to catch the Reverend Horton Heat and the Spittin Cobras. They'll go on at 8:30 pm. $20. All-ages.

Pink Floyd carved a new era for itself in the 1970s. The experimental-noise band first sang about “clans of gingerbread men” and nightmarish drug trips. They became superstars with albums like Dark Side of the Moon. This era is where your everyday-classic-rock-listener is comfortable, and this is also the era Pigs on the Wing — a Portland-based Pink Floyd tribute band — specializes in. But aficionados shouldn’t hold their breath. Pigs on the Wing isn’t anal about hitting every baseline from Roger Waters. Instead, the group experiments with classic Floyd songs. Now that’s psychedelic. They play John's Alley (in Moscow) tomorrow at 9 pm. $5. Gotta be 21.

Remember last week when we told you all about the mega-huge announcement that Van Halen was coming to Spokane this summer?

Well, let's hold on for a second because the show has already been postponed.

No reason for the postponement has been provided, nor has a replacement date been announced.

Spokane wasn't the only show postponed. Rolling Stone says that the band has pulled 30 dates in all. They also have some speculation from unnamed sources as to what's going on behind the graying metal curtain of the Van Halen camp.

The band's nonsensically designed website offers no info, either.

TONIGHT!

When Jaeda Glasgow, a local emcee, won one of our Bands to Watch titles back in 2010, it was clear why: she has a huge stage presence and a

hell of a lot of talent. But now, a couple years gone by, Jaeda is starting to embrace her power as a local hip-hop heavyweight. Her brand new album, The Journey (which she drops TONIGHT), shows her rapping as solidly as ever. But even more interesting is the way she brings honor, thankfulness and this New Age-y sort of attitude — rapping about “your third eye” and “peace, love, life, reflection” — into her songs. That’s something that’s unique for hip-hop, and not just in Spokane. Be at the Red Room tonight at 7 pm to see her perform with Terms None, Drew Slum, Freetime Synthetic, K Clifton, Stone Tobey, Parafyn and Spider Jam. $5. Gotta be 21.

This is no reunion show. Nope, Deadones USA — a local punk rock outfit of the rawest kind — has kept it going for ten straight years now, and this show is a celebration of a decade of making punk in Spokane. (Granted, they’ve had a bit of a revolving with drummers, but come on — who hasn’t?) The band, which started kicking out the jams in 2001, has seen many a musical fad come and go, but has always stuck to tried-and-true, punk rock standards. We got an email from singer/guitarist Tyler Arnold last week that made us smile. “We have no plans of stopping,” he says. Right on, man. Party tonight with them, Moral Crux, The Creeps, Reason for Existence, Hotbox, They're Watching and The Fizzlin Dicks at 6 pm at the Hop! $7. All-ages.

After a few years honing his poppy take on blues rock, Eric Tollefson a 28-year-old songwriter who ditched a career in the financial industry for a life in music, has emerged out of Bend, Oregon, (by way of a childhood in Alaska and college in Montana) with a precisely crafted new record, The Polar Ends, which drops this week. To celebrate the album, the lanky red-head, who elicits comparisons to a livelier Ray LaMontagne or maybe G. Love, is stopping off in Spokane as part of a release tour to showcase his catchy tunes, including the bouncy single, “Whose Love” in addition to the albums softer, gentler tracks, like “Before You Go.” Recorded at Dave Matthews’ Haunted Hollow studio, the record captures the cool, easy vibe of Tollefson’s folkier side while also pointing toward the louder, more powerful future of this up-and-comer. He plays the A Club tonight with Acorn Project and Funktion at 8 pm. $6. Gotta be 21.

Silver Treason plays TWO sets tonight at Jones Radiator — one at 9 pm and another at 10 pm. And they'll also be joined by Hey! is for Horses at 11 pm. Free. Gotta be 21.

And Hell's Belles - that all-female AC/DC tribute band — plays tonight at the Knit.

SATURDAY!

As a part of a giant birthday bash for DJ Divine Jewels, she'll spin records, Hotbox will play a punk set, there will be oil wrestling and burlesque performances and girls on skates. I mean, what else could you ask for? Head on down to the A Club by 8 pm. $5 donations benefit the LGBT Center.

And Spokane's only all-male Go Go's tribute band, the Go Man Go's, play tomorrow at the Baby Bar!

McDougall must like us! The Portland one-man band (who we interviewed here) comes back again to play Mootsy's with Hannah Reader and Team Growl. 10 pm. $5. Gotta be 21.

We just got back from the Spokane Arena, where we were dazzled by a glam-rock press conference to fullfil the arena's promise of a "ginormous" concert announcement.

With stacks of the speakers and guitars lined up on a small stage, arena management got on the mic and announced that....drum roll....VAN HALEN is coming to Spokane on August 21.

One of our Facebook fans actually predicted this.

Tickets go on sale Saturday, May 19 at ticketswest.com and the Arena's box office. Tickets start at $49.50 and go all the way up to $125.

Purist Van Halen fans will be pleased to know that this is Van Halen, not Van Hagar. By which we mean that David Lee Roth, the band's original flamboyant front man, will be in tow. It's the first time they've been in Spokane since 2002.

Van Halen released a new album, A Different Kind of Truth earlier this year, which is the band's first record with Roth since the iconic 1984. Released, duh, in 1984.

Here's a video from the new album.

Dear Spokane Party People,

At precisely 10 am Pacific daylight time tomorrow, May the 11th of the two-thousand and twelfth year, the Spokane Arena is going to blow your mind.

Well, that's what they're assuring us, with the promise of a "BIG. HUGE. GINORMOUS. Concert Announcement."

We know little else about this and have no idea what act could be announced, other than a promise at the bottom of the press release that says "YOU WILL BE ROCKED."

So, who could it be? It's clearly some sort of rock and roll act. No, it's not Pearl Jam. I'm about 95 percent sure. And Nickelback — the most ginormous rock act pretty much ev-er — is already coming. So...maybe these guys?

Anyone want to guess? Wishful thinking guesses are more than welcome.

We'll be at the announcement tomorrow, so check back here to learn which freaking "ginormous" band is going to rock the Arena.

If you're not headed to NorthTown or Coeur d'Alene tonight to catch This American Life on the big screen, you might consider heading to the Bing to see BeauSoleil, pretty much the greatest Cajun band in the country. Led by Michael and David Doucet, the band has been playing shuffling, stomping, upbeat Cajun music since 1976 and has won two Grammys for the obscure genre. Regularly featured on A Prairie Home Companion, this is classic good-time music.

Here's a video from their latest, 2009's Alligator Purse.

The show, which is a benefit for Spokane Public Radio, starts at 7:30. Tickets are $29-$37. See the Bing's site for more info.

This just in from the powers that be at Knitting Factory entertainment: the Augustana show, scheduled to go on tomorrow at the A Club, has been cancelled. No further details have been given as to why the event has been called off. A press release says that Ticketfly tickets purchased online or over the phone with be automatically refunded.
