Fire's Bad, M'kay? -- Many of you have probably already heard about the recent fire over at the Ming Wah restaurant. What you may not know is that, fortunately, the blaze was quickly contained and caused only a limited amount of damage. In fact, it looks as if our favorite Chinese joint will be back in action very soon. What happened? According to owner Kam Kwong, the restaurant was full of hungry customers on Friday night (Oct. 1) when a panhandler asking for food showed up at the back door around 7:30 pm. The busy staff politely declined the panhandler's request. A few minutes later, they discovered a fire, which had been set near the back door. With the help of speedy firefighters (many of whom are Ming Wah regulars), the fire was quickly brought under control. So stay tuned, and get ready to visit the Ming Wah as soon as it re-opens. It better be soon, because I need a fix of that Imperial Chicken stat.
Two For One -- Careful readers will notice that we have added a second CD review in the space that formerly held just one. Also, in the interest of clarity, we're adopting a handy star-based rating system, thus freeing our writers up to turn in completely impenetrable reviews. Here's how to decode the system.
five stars A must-have. A classic
in its own time
four stars Excellent stuff. Highly
recommended
three stars A decent effort.
Recommended for fans of the
act or the style
two stars Weak. Though not
completely worthless
one star Should be melted. Immediately
Enjoy!
