It has been my extreme pleasure to have had the opportunity to write for this paper, to represent Spokane's live music scene and to get to know so many of you out there who are busting your asses on a daily basis to make this weird, bloated cow town a fun place in which to be stranded. I always felt like we were all in it together.
My successor is Luke Baumgarten, a sharp young music geek with a wicked flair for writing. Please harass him as you would me. His e-mail is luke@inlander.com.
Finally, thanks to everyone who made my job fun, to the readers who took the time each week to look at the way I strung words together, and to the artists who gave me something exciting to write about. To this last group I make one final charge: Be honest and keep pushing against the boundaries. Whatever you do, don't listen to them when they tell you that the music or film or theater or photography or drawing or painting or poetry or that thing that you do to keep sane doesn't mean anything. Because it means everything. Stay alive, stay awake and stay tuned. XOXO -- Mike Corrigan
Winner Take All & r & The B-Side's local Battle of the Bands competition wraps on Friday night with a sonic knock-down, drag-out among Willoughby, Dearly Departed, La Cha Cha, Takeover and the Brown Notes -- all for the glory of being crowned number one. Oh, and $2,000, too.
