Sound Advice

by Inlander Staff & r & It's Not You, It's Me & r & Dear Music Section readers: Effective by the time you read this, I am stepping down from my position as Inlander staff writer and de facto music czar to pursue new and exciting writing opportunities that may or may not include eviction and starvation. I've been at this thing full-time for almost six years now (and part-time before that), and therefore I feel it's high time I moved on.


It has been my extreme pleasure to have had the opportunity to write for this paper, to represent Spokane's live music scene and to get to know so many of you out there who are busting your asses on a daily basis to make this weird, bloated cow town a fun place in which to be stranded. I always felt like we were all in it together.


My successor is Luke Baumgarten, a sharp young music geek with a wicked flair for writing. Please harass him as you would me. His e-mail is [email protected].


Finally, thanks to everyone who made my job fun, to the readers who took the time each week to look at the way I strung words together, and to the artists who gave me something exciting to write about. To this last group I make one final charge: Be honest and keep pushing against the boundaries. Whatever you do, don't listen to them when they tell you that the music or film or theater or photography or drawing or painting or poetry or that thing that you do to keep sane doesn't mean anything.
