- Two people drowned over the Fourth of July weekend. On Friday, a 65-year-old Seattle man at Twin Lakes died after he went for a swim, then called for help and vanished under water, according to the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office. On Saturday, a 25-year-old Spokane Valley man fell into the water and drowned in the Spokane River in Post Falls. He died Sunday morning. Alcohol appeared not to have been a factor in either drowning. (Spokesman-Review)
- Developers in Kendall Yards are planning to build a grocery store just north of the Monroe Street Bridge. The name of the grocery store hasn't been revealed yet. (Spokesman-Review)
- Coeur d'Alene Police Chief Lee White doesn't think suspected felons should be able to board a flight, fly across the country and throw things over the fence of the White House, as the shooter of a pastor did in March. (KHQ)
