Spokane County Prosecuting Attorney Steve Tucker has said for weeks that he would make a quick ruling whether to charge a deputy who shot and killed an elderly Spokane Valley pastor in August.
Talking with The Inlander on Sept. 14, Tucker said he was keenly aware of the criticism that his office is a sort of black hole where controversial issues disappear and die, and he vowed to act swiftly in deciding whether Deputy Brian Hirzel committed a crime when he shot 74-year-old Wayne Scott Creach on Aug. 25.
“I don’t want to sit on it through the election,” Tucker told The Inlander that day.
That stance has changed. Today, Tucker told us he never vowed to make a decision before the election — as the Spokesman has reported this week — and at this point he said he’s unlikely to rule on the case in the next two weeks.
“I called the Creach family this morning and said I wasn’t going to spoil a full review of the case just to get it done before the election,” Tucker, 59, said.
The case has been a central issue in the race for prosecutor. Democratic challenger Frank Malone, 67, has called on Tucker to ask an outside prosecutor to determine whether to charge Hirzel and says that, if elected, he would always request outside investigators and prosecutors to deal with deaths involving local law enforcement.

In the past 12 years, in my opinion, some cops literally think they are above the law. Thank GOD for Ozzie Knezovich. On the news tonight (KREM 2), Ozzie was vindicated by the bully cop that grabbed a mans face and throat..FOR NO GOOD REASON...They forced him down on the ground as his "buddies in blue" helped. It was all on video, and yet even then, the police guild (RICO?) questioned this action and battled on.
(Ozzie rightly fired him almost immediately)

Another thing happened this morning at 11 am. Steve Tucker dropped all charges against a man who Tucker had charged with Felony "TTK" (Threat to Kill). In that case, City Council President Joe Shogan had claimed to fear an activist from rooftops (silly huh?).
-
So...after spending 19 hearings, 612 days and at least 55 thousand taxpayer dollars, Tucker finally cried wolf and dropped all charges. This is after the "accused" spent almost 200 grand in legal and other expenses.
Tucker must be defeated.
Malone will do a great job.
How do I know all this ?

Listen to the crickets as the Spokesman Review writes nothing. They screamed headlines of falsity and fraud. We BEAT BETSY COWLES in court and they make a big deal out of 2 misdemeanors ? Folks, never trust what you readin the Spokesman Review. It is rarely accurate and they serve only as propaganda for real estate ventures. But, they do have excellent photgraphers !
