Tan tax goes into effect today A 10 percent federal tax on tanning beds is expected to raise $2.7 billion over the next ten years. (KREM) Responding to a tweet by Jersey Shore's Snooki, in which she objected to the new tax, Time reports that John McCain tweeted:

'@Snooki u r right, I would never tax your tanning bed! Pres Obama's tax/spend policy is quite The Situation.'
