Progressive-policy poetry slam tonight at nYne

Posted on Wed, Mar 16, 2011 at 7:56 AM

nYne Bar and Bistro, at 232 W. Sprague in downtown Spokane, is hosting a kind of political poetry slam tonight. Beginning at 5:30 pm, six advocates and activists will speak on six different topics, ranging from legalizing marijuana to regulating banks to protecting the environment. The presentations should be good, if only because the point of the whole thing is to emulate a slam, where the speakers have to convince the audience to vote for them at the end of the night.

The winner will receive an Eastern Washington Legislative Issue Slam Trophy. Jealous.

And it's hosted by one of Spokane's sexiest people — Michael Reid! Hells yeah.

Legislative Issues Slam! runs from 5:30 pm to 7 pm tonight at nYneBar & Bistro, 232 W Sprague Ave. The event is free, but donations toward Greater Spokane Progress are encouraged.
