Colville soldier killed — 28-year-old Army Staff Sgt. Wyatt A. Goldsmith of Colville was killed on Friday in Afghanistan. Goldsmith died in Helmand Province during a battle with insurgents armed with rocket-propelled grenades. It was his third tour in the country. (SR)

Parking rage in Coeur D'Alene — A couple from California was shopping in downtown Coeur D'Alene when they emerged to find a $10 parking ticket on their car. Feeling an injustice had been visited upon them, they sent the city a nasty email. (CDA Press)
