Occupy Spokane member Wayne Spitzer declared this week that he's dropping out of the 6th District House race. That leaves an empty field for incumbent Republican Rep. Kevin Parker.

We profiled Spitzer last week in our story "Occupying Politics." At that time, he spoke to The Inlander of building his campaign organization and his experiences in the local Occupy movement.

But Spitzer posted a message on his Facebook page Sunday night citing the challenges of beating Parker.

"We came into this thing too late, folks, and we’ve had too little resources to work with from the start," Spitzer wrote. "Because of that, we’ve paid a price."
