CAT FRIDAY: Today is Black Cat Appreciation Day!

Today, Friday, Aug. 17, has been dubbed (by someone out there) as Black Cat Appreciation Day. Yes, it's a real event, though not to be confused with Black Cat Adoption month (July) and Black Cat Awareness Day on October 27, which started in the UK.

Cat lovers all over the world are rejoicing at this viral recognition of the oft-overlooked and negatively-stereotyped ebony colored felines, and many shelters across the U.S. also are reportedly offering $17 adoption specials on black kitties today. 

We would be crazy not to theme this week's Cat Friday post around this special day!

Black kittens are just as cute as non-black colored kittens. 

Who can refute this? 

This black kitty has a really awesome donut bed. We're jealous. 

Black cats are very docile and friendly, and some even tolerate wearing a paper bag like clothing.

 Black kitties also really like to cuddle, just like any cat.
